The Flâneuse and The City #5
What's going on in Manchester this June - what to do, where to shop, eat, drink and much more!
As we sit and write this, we can’t quite believe it’s mid-June already! Is it just us or is this year flying by? As always Manchester is keeping us on our toes, with its weather and its events calendar. Truthfully, we’re counting down the days until we’re lying on a beach but in the meantime, we are in good hands with what feels like the start of summer fun.

Workshop Review - Summer Bloom Day Retreat
We had the absolute pleasure of going to Flow with Inez Summer Bloom Day Retreat at the start of the month. Inez is a qualified Yoga, Meditation and Breathwork facilitator in Manchester. Her recent Summer Bloom Retreat was such a joyous experience and was the perfect way to spend a Sunday. The retreat started with Inez guiding you through a one-hour all abilities yoga flow, followed by a guided meditation. Both sessions focused on realignment, strength and relaxation. Inez has the most calming presence and voice; she can hold and engage a room full of women like no other. Inez’s goal is to unite women, to help harness harmony and long-lasting well-being from within each of us, and we can confirm she does just that! Next up was the Sound Bath led by Nicola, we enjoyed every second of this beautiful session….and you know us, we love a sound bath, and we won’t rest until everyone has experienced one. For an extra special touch post flow, we were all encouraged to create our own flower bouquet (how cute). We came away from the retreat feeling full, calm, and reset. We’re a big advocate of taking time for ourselves and Inez’s day retreat allowed us to do just that. Inez’s next retreat will be on August 25th for a morning of Yoga, Sound Healing, Flower Arranging, and Brunch.
You can get 10% off Inez’s August retreat morning with code Theflaneuse - go get your zen on!
What We’re Shopping
We swapped out our knitwear for linen and we’ve been cold ever since. What a rollercoaster it is living in Manchester…ANYWAY enough of the weather - snore. The local girlies have been working hard to give us new pieces for summer and we are in love.
Brand Spotlight
One of our favourite Manchester brands is evie joynes, founded by Faye Joynes. evie joynes is elevated yet nostalgic daywear, designed to keep you comfy but still looking cute. The designs are timeless in shape and style - they are pieces you know you will have for years, not only do they fit perfectly but they complement in all the right places too. Every piece is designed and made by Faye in her studio in Stockport, she works predominantly with natural, OEKO-TEX-certified fabrics, and deadstock fabrics. Everything is either made to order or made in a small batch. Having just launched her new ‘Special Pieces’ drop, which consists of mini/midi skirts and tops made from deadstock lace, evie joynes has a summer staple for everyone.
We have a lovely discount code just for our subscribers for 15% off ALL evie joynes, valid until 31st July. Use code LOVEFLANEUSE at checkout.

Trending
There isn’t a day that goes by that we aren’t browsing Still Life Story’s website. They have had lots of new pieces in for summer and some of our favourites are in their beautifully curated art and prints collection. Featured artists include Lucrecia Rey Caro, Enikö Eged, and Sofia Lind. Art is the easiest way to change or spruce up a room, and with these prints, you can add character to your space instantly. We’re also on the hunt for some new tableware pieces, with hot tomato girl summer and dinner parties rapidly approaching we want to add some pizzazz to our table. Their new collection of HAY Barro plates is giving life on the Mediterranean. Available in green, terracotta, and blue - so perfect for summer tablescaping.

Where to Eat & Drink
We recently went to Maray for the first time (shocking we know!) where they’re serving up mouthwatering Middle-Eastern inspired sharing plates. They have a new Spring/Summer menu so we were keen to try the latest additions, and they did not disappoint. The Braised Carrots and Roasted Broccoli are two dishes we’re still thinking about. The Roasted Broccoli sauce, made from tomato, fermented tofu, and roasted coconut is particularly STUNNING. The Whipped Goats Cheese is also a must, as well as the famous Disco Cauliflower and Lamb Kofta - all absolutely delicious. If we do eventually get some sun, Maray has a lovely outdoor terrace which will be the perfect place to sip on one of their Spritz Cocktails and bask in the sun.
What’s On
June seems to be the month for markets - luckily for us, browsing a market is one of our favourite activities. It is the best way to meet local makers and brands IRL. Pair this with festivals, foodie events, some very fun wellbeing classes and much more, we’re in for a jam-packed June.
