The Flâneuse and The City #11
What's going on in Manchester this March - what to do, where to shop, eat, drink and much more!
Hello lovely March, you’re finally here and we couldn’t be happier! With spring just around the corner, the lighter and longer days are truly giving us a whole new lease of life. We’re buzzing for March and all the gorgeous joy it brings. Call us keen, but we’ve already been to Flawd and sipped on a glass of orange wine in the sun. We made it gals, we made it out the other side.
Girls Want Workshops
We kicked off the year with a ramen bowl-making workshop with ClayLife, and we loved every second of it. If you haven’t seen our reel on this yet, check it out here and be sure to book yourself into one of Nina’s (at ClayLife) classes because it was such a fun and wholesome experience.
This month, we’re keen to try something hands-on, whether it’s cooking, pottery, or something outdoorsy. We’re ready to knead dough, make a pot - maybe even do a bit of foraging. Who knows? We’re open to it all.

Simply Books - An Evening with Lottie Hazell
AD / We’ve partnered* with Simply Books to spotlight their incredible upcoming in-person author events and ensure you know exactly who they are and what they do.
Simply Books is an award-winning independent bookshop in the heart of Bramhall (South Manchester), specialising in events and experiences. They’re far from your average bookshop however - by day, they offer a welcoming space filled with carefully curated books and speciality coffee, and by night, they transform into a plush wine bar and event space. Whether you're an early bird or a night owl, it’s the perfect literary haven.
We’re absolutely ecstatic about this partnership and about Simply Books as a whole. There is one event in particular that we’re especially excited about, and that is their upcoming Evening with Lottie Hazell. If it’s not already in your calendar, it should be! We read Lottie’s book Piglet last year and devoured it. It is a ferocious, propulsive, and cunningly crafted debut - Piglet is clever, dark, and utterly gripping. Once you realise that greed, desire, and a questionable moral compass lie at the heart of this captivating read, you won’t be able to put it down. We loved it.
If you were also one of the many who devoured Piglet last year and like us, can’t wait to get inside the mind of Lottie Hazell, you won’t want to miss this event. Join Lottie and host Kya Buller on 27th March as they discuss Piglet—it’s set to be an unmissable evening.
About Lottie Hazell
Lottie Hazell is a writer, contemporary literature scholar, and board game designer living in Warwickshire. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Loughborough University and her research considers food writing in twenty-first century fiction. Piglet is her first novel.
About your host: Kya Buller
Kya Buller is a writer, presenter and editor. She has worked for Metro, Stylist, gal-dem, Soho House, Time Out and more. She has hosted events for the likes of Dazed, Mubi, Nike, Beats by Dre, I Like Networking, and Factory International.
The ticket includes entry to the event plus a copy of Lottie’s book, Piglet. Book your ticket here
Location: PINK, 2nd Floor, Hilton House, Stockport SK1 3NA
You can also find Simply Book’s jam-packed event schedule here.

What We’re Shopping
We’re on a bit of a spending ban after recently moving flat and having a minor meltdown about the sheer amount of stuff we own. Basically, a major clear-out is definitely in order. However, just because we’re not buying right now doesn’t mean we’re not browsing! With Fashion Week barely behind us, we’re feeling seriously inspired and can’t wait to start dressing for spring.
Here’s what we’re loving at the moment
This Va1sseau button raglan tee is GORGEOUS
The Polly Sayer Large Mulberry Jewellery Case is perfect for keeping all of our jewellery in order
The ANF Suit: Oversized Blazer + Barrel Trouser from Atelier Ninety Five - We gasped at this suit

Where to Eat & Drink
We ate some truly knock-out food in February - from the delicious dinner at our Girls’ Night x Federal event to Lina Stores’ Valentine’s home kit, Atomeca’s European Wine Dinner, our Palms Bakery Cake, Half Dozen Other’s specials, and Exhibition’s new spring menu. Every bite has been incredible, Manchester’s food scene just keeps getting better and we can’t wait to see what March has in store.
Atomeca Wine Bar
We had the absolute pleasure of attending Atomeca’s first event—a European Wine Dinner, where they paired their favourite European wines with dishes specially crafted by their very own Chef Heath. This was our first time visiting Atomeca, and it did not disappoint. We’re already counting down the days until we can go back. Each pairing was perfection, with every dish getting better than the last. Our stand-out courses were the Goat’s Curd Agnolotti and the Lamb.
The delicate Goat’s Curd Agnolotti, was silky and rich, nestled in a luscious Champagne sauce. The sweetness of braised leeks added depth, while each bite melted effortlessly in your mouth. Paired with a crisp Vincent Pinard Sancerre, this duo was a match made in creamy, dreamy heaven.
Then came the star of the show: the Lamb. It was cooked to perfection, and the earthy sweetness of Jerusalem artichokes gave it a lovely contrast. The rich Jus Gras tied everything together perfectly, and paired with the bold San Leonardo from Magnum, it took the dish to the next level.
If you haven’t yet eaten at Atomeca, we recommend you do so immediately. It felt like a meal of pure indulgence, and we devoured every single bite.
Keep an eye out for their next event, or simply go and try their current menu - it’s divine. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, they also offer a £10 fresh pasta lunch deal Monday to Saturday, what a TREAT!
What’s On
We’ve got a gorgeous month ahead of us, packed with plenty of fun and wholesome things. It’s so busy that the list could go on forever, but don’t worry we’ve picked out the best bits for you. You can thank us later gals!
