The Flâneuse and The City #10
What's going on in Manchester this January - what to do, where to shop, eat, drink and much more!
We hope you all had a restful, gorgeous, and fun-filled Christmas, however you spent it! January can sometimes feel a bit daunting—like we’re expected to suddenly dive into all these new habits in the COLD. But fear not—you’re already doing amazing, and it’s perfectly okay to ease into the new year at your own pace.
For us, 2025 is all about prioritising self-care. That means getting our 8 hours of sleep, making time for the things we love—like pilates, reading, and skincare (which we definitely neglected last year) and being kinder to ourselves along the way.
On the professional front, we’re so excited for what’s ahead. This year, we’re focusing on growing our platform, fostering more collaborations, hosting IRL events, and creating more lifestyle content. Oh, and launching a website—so stay tuned, gals. Big things are coming!
Girls Want Workshops
There are a few workshops at the top of our must-do list this year! First up is crochet—because how cute would it be to make your own scarf? Next is jewellery making; we absolutely loved the ring-making class we did with Sken Studios last year and can’t wait to do more. Lastly, we’re eyeing up a glass-making class...though we’re still doing a bit of research on that one. In the meantime, here are some workshops happening in Manchester that are perfect for kicking off January!

What We’re Shopping
Ahhh, it’s the month of the ‘clear out’ — that time when we all dive into our wardrobes, decide we don’t want half of what’s inside, pack everything away, and end up with piles of clothes sitting in bin bags in our cars for at least six months…Guilty! we’ll try harder this year.
Right now, our focus is on skincare and beauty. We’ve started to truly listen to what our skin needs, after somewhat neglecting it a little. We did a big haul over Black Friday, which means we’ve had enough time for our skin to adjust to the new additions in our routine. We spent weeks researching—which, in reality, meant watching hundreds of beauty videos and purchasing exactly what our favourite make-up artists and skincare gurus recommend. So, here’s a few products we bought…
Iconic London Underglow Blurring Primer - This is hands-down the best primer we’ve ever tried. It leaves your skin so dewy, and anything you apply afterwards glides on effortlessly. This is officially a forever staple in our make-up bag!
Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum - This gentle retinol has completely transformed our skin—without any of the usual dryness or irritation. It’s perfect for anyone new to retinol and has smoothed out our complexion beautifully. Those pesky under-the-skin bumps? Gone, thanks to this gem.
PATRICK TA Major Headlines Double-Take Crème and Powder Blush Duo - She's Blushing - We’re obsessed with this crème and powder blush duo. The shade ‘She’s Blushing’ is the perfect mauve-pink hue—subtle yet stunning. It blends like a dream and adds the most natural, effortless flush to your cheeks.
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotics - This is hands down one of the best SPFs we’ve tried in ages. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and leaves zero white cast. Packed with calming ingredients, it’s perfect for sensitive skin and feels like a second skin when applied.
Caudalie The Firming Edit - Caudalie had us at “Cashmere Creme.” This set is pure magic, delivering firmer, nourished, and oh-so-soft skin. It’s your go-to trio for collagen-boosted radiance that really lasts.
